hello, i have a slight problem with my contract. my 12 months ran out in march this year but i wanted to wait a while before upgrading as there was no phones i wanted to change my p900 for. i rang singlepoint and told them i wanted to end my contract just to see what they could offer me anyway. the 'advisor' imediatley offered me a 6 month extention to my contract at half price line rental and told me i could walk away at the end of that 6 month period.
yesterday i rang what is now vodafone to tell them that i wish to upgrade my handset asap and they told me that i am stuck with my handset and contract untill April 2006 and after my 6 months at half price i have another 6 months at full price to pay for. i questioned this but got a very abrupt answer from the lady and was told to go and check the letter i was sent to see that i had infact signed up for another 12 months and vodafone are not at all interested in the fact that i was dupped by singlepoint.
anybody know a way i can cancel this contract or am i stuck with it???
thanks for your help

If you have signed for it then you are stuck! The contract is legally binding and must be fulfilled by both parties.
If indeed it was a six month "extension" you were offered then you could complain to OFCOM, the mobile telecommunications governing body but Singlepoint could turn round and say that you failed to read the details of the contract and its your fault.
You just need to tell them that you wanted the 6 month extension and you were told after the 6 months you could walk away, but without proof you will be up against it.
Hope you can get it sorted. Nothing worse than bloody mobile companies signing people up for all sorts of crap (and don't even get me started on Singlepoint)!

If you took it to OFCOM they could request to hear the conversation so that might be one way of doing it. |

In theory if you have been recorded then by law the company must give you a copy of the recording upon request from the person who has been recorded. |

As regards Singlepoint, the sales assistants in the local Phones4U store told me that they are now autonomous from Singlepoint and now deal directly with O2 and Vodafone. Hmm, personally, I can think of a few reasons why...
Pardon my ignorance if this is old news.
IMO, I think that is pretty damn good news, as I have had two contracts at the same time (one for the missus)with Singlepoint and I was put off completely by the very poor service I experienced, including having to deal with an extremely unreliable retention department.
Singlepoint's shoddy service is not new news on esato forums either...
Wouldn't be surprised if there is a dedicated Singlepoint 'hate' thread lurking somewhere in the esato search...
