Mobiles.co.uk have confirmed that this phone will be out within a month on O2. No price as yet.

But what is strange is - I contacted O2 to find out about their 3G data tariffs and they explained that because they don't have any, Video Calls will come out of your normal monthly minutes!!

A bargain when Orange charge 50p/min out of bundle. They also said that they won't have any 3G tariffs for a couple of months.

He said this also applies to accessing the web using your laptop and 3G phone. Cheap?

I'm not too fussed about the k600i due to the hotly-debated memory limitations, but if what O2 told you holds true, I'd be very tempted to go O2 3G...
However, IF they are going to up their game with (possibly more expensive?) 3G tariffs that they told you would be in place after a couple of months and you've committed yourself to a contract based on a couple of months of good fortune...
Obviously I'm only speculating and I hope these concerns will prove unfounded.
Sorry if I seem slightly sceptical, just being devil's advocate.

@amawanqa.

Thanks for your concern. I already have an O2 and Orange contract but will be upgrading to a 3G handset very soon and will be connecting it to laptop to access the web so O2 might allow unlimited 3G data usage for the next couple of months if I choose them.

hhmmmm,

I was in the O2 shop today and th emanager logged on to the O2 systems, and it showed the Z800i and K600i for possible release around August.

So confusing!

I know. I am sick of waiting. I fancy the Z800 but I wanna go smaller and I can just download stuff to my laptop instead of using the absent mem stick.

Look on the o2 site... it states that:
"
Pay Monthly - Until 30 September 2005, video calls from O2 mobiles will be charged at the same rate as equivalent voice calls and will be eligible for inclusion within the monthly inclusive calling plan minute allowance. From 1 October 2005, Video calls from O2 mobiles to other UK mobiles will be excluded from the monthly allowance and charged 50p per minute

Pay & Go - From 1 April 2005 to 30 June 2005, video calls made in the UK to UK mobiles will be charged at the same rate as equivalent voice calls. From 1 July 2005, video calls made in the UK to all UK mobiles will be charged 50p per minute at all times.
"

Why there is 3months difference between pay and go and contracts is anyones guess!

Ahh, thanks Jaffra.

Looks like O2 are trying to get punters used to the video calling before they start charging.

I wish they would get a move on with handset.
