Holland based soldius have recently released the soldius-1, a solar powered phone charger for portable devices. It uses a technology called Maximum Solar Power Tracking and is compatible with most cell-phone brands. The device weighs only 85gms and the dimensions are 135*80*10mm and requires around 2-3 hours for a complete charge. For more details, visitTheir website

@anto, i don't think is available for sale now in india. Let me see if there are any indications of its pricing in europe.

i also saw a couple of time ago, a charger based on hand power! it was brought from asia, and you just have to turn a small wheel for a couple of minutes..and ..voila...! your phone is back in business (for a few hours, that's true..but enough to call for am emergency,if god forbidd necessary)

but unfortunately, i don't know neither the name, nor the producer of this wicked charger...
the man did not want to sell it... !

yeah, my local carphone warehouse had some before. i was quite tempted to buy one, but i doubt i would every use it

They have stopped selling them in CPW now, but you can still get them on eBay. They are called a "wind up charger".
Just search eBay and there are quite a few. I would post a link, but i dont think you are allowed to post eBay links here :S

Apparently, 3 Minutes winding produces enough power for between 3-6 minutes talk time! seems aight.
