There's no option on the phone to send via cable to the PC.
See if anyone has written a program to do a 'backup' of the phone's "My pictures" catagory (initiate from the PC) so that you can view the 'backup' GIFs and JPEGs on the PC.
Anyone know of such a program, or is it wishful thinking?

The the closest I could find. Doesn't do the "my pics" folder tho!
There must be a way...

Absolutly no way at this moment since there's no option to send via cable and so far also there's no any s/w can grab a pic from phone. I just wonder why people always thinking to use data cable since they have irda phone. Beside irda device can be used with any brand phone.

IRDA is still quite expensive, hence the need to use a cable...
Do you recommend any good sites to get an IR device? |

Based on the posts I read here, it looks like an IrDA device will most likely be the same if not just a little more expensive compared to an ORIGINAL Ericsson datacable.
Look for the IrDA called MA-620. Here in Manila, it costs about P1800 or roughly under US$40.

All kind of generic irda can be used, whether it's connected to COM, USB port or direct connected to pc mainboard.
I personnaly use the third model. It cost me just US$.25 since the USB model (Tekram) around US$.35

So is the idea that you *can* transfer files via IR? If so, how? What application do you use to transfer the files from the phone to the PC?
