just want to ask who would you be able to determine if K700i has a bug?

I hate Sony Ericsson's support from the Philippines... I kept on telling them that their phones rocks, but their so-called-support sucks!

If it starts doing things it shouldn't be...if it reboots out of the blue...first thing to do would be to check your firmware and search the forums.

oh no!!! thanks for the information.

to be honest, I had my k700i for 5 months and I was not aware of such things until I visited Esato.

I really want to maximize my usage with my phone.

Thus far the most stable fw for the K700 is rae0033 which is also the latest official release AFAIK.

Hi @rakee, first of all welcome to Esato, kababayan! Could you please tell us more about your unpleasant experiences with the SE after-sales support team in the Philippines? It might have been just a misunderstanding due to lack of necessary info. Thanks!

Your phone has a bug if something buzzes in it. That is a live bug. If it is a dead bug it will smell.

Much more to the point, the most bothersome of FIRWMARE bugs are those that make your phone hang or restart. Kindly check your firmware version by doing this on standby mode: >*<<*<*
where: > is joystick right, and < is joystick left.

Then, go to this link:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=66330#post862347
where you'll find the known bugs for each fw version.

If you have R2L001 or later, there's really no great need to update fw.

Have a great weekend!

@ chili!! hello there!!! it's nice to know I have a kababayan here in Esato. =) by the way, were you part of Sony Ericsson's support? that is why you wanted to ask what happened when I contacted them?

attached is my correspondence with Sony Ericsson's so-called support. This is the second time I seeked there support to no avail. The first correspondence I had with them is with my Yahoo! account. Too bad, Yahoo! is blocked here in our office.

=( I just can't believe what their support has to offer.

my reply:

Common! I know you can do better than this aside from your canned message and templates. You did not even bothered to address ALL my inquiries. As an e-mail tech support, your responsibility is to READ READ READ and ANALYZE.

Once again, your support proved me right that you would not change. no badge this time. Your phones rocks, but your support sucks.

Subject: Phones
Product: K700i

Opinion: this is pretty simple. the QUICK SHARE logo/sticker on my and my peers phone's (k700i) is not anymore attached in our phones. is this a known issue? tell me the truth. we have the sticker/logo with us. how do we put it back? my friend used glue but to no avail.

dont tell me that you need to contact me through phone. i preferred to be contacted through mail.

thanks. i may sound irate but im not, just pretty disappointed.

Hi @rakee, I could understand how you feel. No, I've never worked for SE. I just wanted to hear what their reply to you was. And having seen it, it was pretty typical of big-sized companies in the sense that they wouldn't admit to an "issue" or "defect" unless such an admission is authorized by higher management, sometimes even by the board of directors. For an employee of such a company to make unofficial admissions could mean the loss of his or her job. Needless to say, the result could be frustrating to customers.

This is where Esato and other specialized discussion forums become important. Here you are well advised to use the "Search" function in order to take advantage of the wealth of information in the archives. Most of the things SE wouldn't officially announce, whether positive or negative, can be found here.

The K700i Quickshare sticker is indeed a disappointment, doubtless an inattention to detail, which is in stark contrast with the excellent qualities of this phone. K700i was truly outstanding in its segment when it came out and it just contradicts logic that the Quickshare and Online stickers could so easily peel off. I say these shouldn't even have been stickers; they should've been engraved or printed.

Heeding the advice of a fellow Esato member, I used a double-sided tape. Quickshare falling off, solved. However, after a couple of months, it became BROWN due to accumulated dirt that you just COULDN'T clean up. So I threw the sticker away for good. In my opinion, my phone looks better without it, and the way it bulged always made pressing the "zero" button more difficult anyway.

As for the "Online" sticker, it peeled off even earlier. Good riddance.

Of course, you could always buy a new Quickshare sticker for Php50.00 from Semicon or SESS. But for me it's not worth the hassle. It'll get dirty again, and make your phone look run-down.

There are Pinoy threads at Esato. Please visit the Regional >> Asia Pacific portion. Cheers!
