im planning to get a nokia 6680. iam just wondering if i can use the '3g' here in the philippines. do we have a 3g already/

EDGE is considered a 3G network. GSM is considered 2G, GPRS 2.5G. EDGE, UMTS are all 3G type networks.

@ResidentEvil: EDGE cannot be 3G because it uses GSM infrastructure whereas 3G in fact requires new towers and is a different technology. You can't make video calls with EDGE.

Indeed, EDGE is not 3G.

Nope, no 3G in the Philippines. And don't consder holding your breathe waiting for one.

Introducing 3G in the country doesn’t make a good business case for the telecom company. "3G is basically for the high-end market. Our high-growth prospect is still in the low-end segment of the market so there’s no need for us to rush into 3G."

Me thinks Vodafone wants to expand the services of Globe and then Vodafone will maybe build a 3G network under the Globe brand.
