Hi guys, I know this has been asked many times before and I have read up on everything but I still need help and if not, I just want to rant a bit.

All I wanted was to use mp3's as ringtones on my uk vodafone branded k700i. My firmware is R2N001 and i know that I need it to be R2V001 and then use the DRM program for this to work.

I know people have previously used the online update service to upgrade their vodafone firmware to fix the problem, so I bought a DSS 25 Sync Station. I have read that orange branded phones weren't allowed to upgrade firmware online but havent read of any problems with vodafone... but this is exactly what is happening, i am getting that damn message every time

"Your device is not permitted to use this service

Your operator does not approve the use of this service with this device.
We look forward to assisting you again soon.
Thank you for using the Sony Ericsson Update Service!"

(well, yeah, except i'm not really, am i)

Is it just recently that vodafone have disallowed upgrading from R2N001 to R2V001? It seems stupid for them to have developed the firmware and now deny it
