BAND-WAGON

WHITE - A symbol of the recently launched MakePovertyHistory campaign to eradicate Third World debt. Supermodel Claudia Schiffer wore the bands to a meeting with Chancellor Gordon Brown this month. She was joined by Big Brother star Davina McCall and comedian Lenny Henry and his actress wife Dawn French. Musicians recording the new version of Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas? also wore them.

YELLOW - A yellow wristband bearing the words "Live Strong" is the symbol of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Armstrong, a cancer survivor who has won the Tour de France

six times, launched them to help cancer patients and support cancer research. The Nike-produced items have become fashionable on both sides of the Atlantic. President Bush and John Kerry were both spotted sporting them.

BLUE - Being worn by stars including the footballer Rio Ferdinand and Olympic champion Kelly Holmes in support of the Government's drive to reduce bullying in schools. Launching anti-bullying week, the schools minister Stephen Twigg invited pupils to wear the bands to make "a visible commitment that they are not prepared to tolerate bullying".

MULTI-COLOURED - Friendship bracelets consisting of six strands of embroidery thread are the symbol of the international peace movement.

PINK - An alternative to the pink ribbon as a symbol of the battle against breast cancer.

GOLDEN DELICIOUS - A golden leather wristband sporting the word "Delicious" is marketed as a fashion accessory. Friends star Jennifer Aniston has been spotted wearing one. No charitable or ideological associations.

ABSTINENCE - Bracelets and wristbands carrying the slogan "worth waiting for" have become common among members of America's increasingly popular campaigns for sexual abstinence before marriage.

RED - A red string wristband is the symbol of Kabbalah, a mystical offshoot of Judaism. Fans include Madonna, Britney Spears and Roseanne Barr.

It'll be his final tour, so he says.

Usually when a champion races his final tour, its usually his worst (Indurain, Riis, Pantani to mention a couple..).

Last years race was IMO his best ever though, especially the solo time trial up le Alpe d'Huez. Hopefully for his final tour he wont bow out of the sport looking weak like the rest.

This has nothing to do in this section, please remove A.S.A.P.

I don't like beeing told why and what I should support/donate. Around christmas/new year my wife and my self donated quite a few bucks on a early point of time to the tsunami victims. In the end we almost regret that we did donate money. Where ever we went, whatever forum I did read, channel we watched, where ever we bought food, ..... there was someone begging for more. No gratitude for what already donated. It went over being a sport, measured in which of the different organizations collecting the most. They still have'nt used all that money on the victims!

Thanks to the media jippo that forced people to donate more than they acctualy could spend, other causes suffers and will suffer from that.

I do have family that recently went away cause of canser, so I do have strong feelings about this..... but it's still polution posting this on this list!!!!
My donations goes direct, not through purchase of rubberbands where 90% goes to "administration" and 10% to the cause.

Yeah, I easily get provoked when I feel someone tries to shove stuff up my face

No rubberbands on me, my wife or my kids thanks to this post! Should my daugther beg for one because a friend has one.... I'll prolly go for a fake one
