Via: Olympian

The Olympian offers a sneak preview of McDonald's technology filled fast-food future.

"Digital-media kiosks for burning CDs, downloading cell-phone ringtones and printing photos. Dozens of plasma-screen TVs. Wi-Fi Internet access. New chicken sandwiches. Double-lane drive-thrus. And an adjoining McCafe with gourmet coffees, fancy pastries and a fireplace.

In the U.S some of the Macdonalds already have the following things:

ATM-style Blaze Net kiosks that allow customers to buy digital music and cell-phone ring tones, as well as print photos useing this
contraption:

Wi-Fi wireless Internet access
Web-surfing stations
Large-screen TVs
Cashless payment systems
A 10,500-square-foot space (more than twice the size of a traditional store), with outdoor seating for 60 and a two-lane drive-through
Fare such as honey-wheat chicken sandwiches on the main menu
A McCafe with specialty coffees, desserts, pastries and other items not typically found at McDonald's

Not shabby. Wonder how long it'll take this concept to breeze over to my part of the globe.

Seems like overkill to me. Buying a McD's franchise will become incredibly expensive. Looking forward to Payment via Mobile phone.
