k750i - unbranding overview |

Apologies if this has been covered in depth before, but i couldn't find a post which answered all my questions on the matter.
Firstly, is it currently possible to unbrand a k750i?
If not, what is it that we are waiting for to make it possible, and could anybody put an estimate on how long till it is possible?
Who will be able to do the unbranding? i.e. SE service centres/ carphone warehouse/ Individuals with right equipment.
... and does it make a difference to warranty who performs the unbranding?
Will shops charge for the service?
Personally, i'm looking to get a k750i as my first contract phone, and it would work out much cheaper for me to get one with a contract from the vodafone website... but obviously this will mean lots and lots of branding!
I understand that phones bought from the carphone warehouse can be requested as unbranded - but their contract offers (for any provider) don't come close to those on voda online.

Any kind of unbranding will naturally void the phones warranty.
Naturally no official servicecentres/warehouses etc. will unbrand your phone.
Only unofficial persons with the right equipment will be able to unbrand the phone.
I understand why you would want to get the phone cheap, I also understand why you would want to unbrand it.
I dont understand why you would imagine that any official centres would unbrand it for you, and I dont understand why you would imagine it would not void warranty.
The whole point of a branded phone is you get what you pay for, and someone (voda) sell it to you cheap in order to gain something else.
Unbranding is kind of breaking that contract deal, and thus is for your own risk.
At the moment noone can unbrand it, and noone can tell you if or when this will be possible

Thanks Numb.
I wasn't assuming anything, was just after confirmation on some things that hadn't been crystal clear from my searching through previous threads. |
