T68 upgrade to T68i in US? |

Is this upgrade available yet and where can I get it? Is the only difference between the two is the 68i is compatible with the CommuniCam? Thanks, I love this phone. |

It costs about $50 to upgrade to T68i, factoring in shipping charges to and from and the upgrade charge. Since I have a 30 day return policy from ATT, I just my T68 back and upgraded to the T68i for $35. It's a cool upgrade, but I wouldn't trust somebody to do it. |

VStream GPRS support told me that the new software would not be compatible with their GPRS. I find that is a statement that coincides with their directives. In other words they won't go the extra mile to reconfigure their towers just because us cell maniacs want a few extra thrills  I have however noticed that a few people in this forum do use the T68i in the US, either upgraded from the m version or bought the i version. They seem to have gotten it to work just fine. So I wouldn't worry about support... there's plenty of good people in this forum who are glad to help.

so where can I get help to upgrade my t68? can I do this upgrade myself? because I called sony ericsson customer service and they said that US is not doing this upgrade, only in different countries. |

I bought my T68m from a Cingular store here in California. I also called SonyEricsson and they told me that the upgrade was available everywhere in the world except the USA. Since I was about to go to Europe, I looked in these forums and found some addresses of stores in Europe where they actually perform the upgrades onsite. I ended up going to MobileZone in Basel, Switzerland where they upgraded my phone with the latest T68i rev (R2F0004) in 2 hours for free! When I got home, my phone still worked perfectly with Cingular, including GPRS. But officially it's unavailable in the US...
