It allows you to remotely control applications on your computer, such as iTunes, the desktop, PowerPoint etc. from your phone. For example, you press buttons on the keypad of your phone and it skips tracks, pauses, volume up & down etc. in iTunes.

Works perfectly for me on my Mac.

I can connect to the device but when it says connecting remote control it says bluetooth failed to connect even though I have connected and sent files before I can remote control.

thats because your bluetooth dongle or the bluetooth device in our PC do not support the HID profile. (HID=Human Interface Device). Check the specs. of your BT device.

If you have an old bluetooth dongle, you'll have to upgrade your drivers or download some other manufacturers driver and hack it to work with yours. When I used a PC, I downloaded some Mitsu-thingy manufacturers drivers and made them work with my Tecom BT3030 on a WinXP w/ SP1. (I'm an anti-SP2 person! )

I can also use Remote Control on my Mac without any problems, but I prefer Salling Clicker, which refuses to work with my dad's K700i but works fine with my K700i, T610 and T68i...
