hey i would like to unlock my t616 sony ericsson phone
i have a cable that ocnnects to the sony ericsson.. but i do not know what to do in order to unlock
please help

most T616's were unlocked by default. At the home screen do <**< (those arrows are joystick directions). That should bring you to your network lock settings.

When i did that, the top one was locked and needed a code to unlock
the following 3 were unlocked... so is it unlocked or not? |

what cable?.. i have a serial cable that connects to the computer
and yes, i was using cingular |

If you got it from Cingular and your contract is up it might be worth calling them and asking for an unlock code.
I have never unlocked a phone with a cable and I have actually never seen a locked T616, every one I have seen has been fully unlocked.

most carriers are capable of giving you an unlock code as far as I know. Some charge you for it if you got the phone on contract, or if you attempt to unlock before your contract is up. Couldn't hurt to call them.

i called them.. they said since the accounts closed i cant do anythin about it
...

yeah you can unlock it with a cable and the usual websites. I helped someone look into this the other day, DaVinci and TotalMultiServer both offer services to unlock these phones for about $20 if you have the cable.
Otherwise, there might be some phone shops around, but they would be hard to find.
