Hi all,
I have a p-a-y-g sim card from Genie/O2 and have just bought myself a nice new T68i phone. After I make a call / send a mesage I get sent a priority 1 message [straight to your screen] to my phone telling me my balance. My problem is that these messages ALWAYS adopt the standard 'Tone' message alert unless the phone is on silent. I would like to set them to use the 'click' alert but I cant seem to find any way of doing this. My nokia 3330 has tem come up with the discreet tone which was really good, why have ericsson gone down the annoying path?

Hope someone can shed some light on this little annoyance!

Thanks in advance,

Phil.

I got in touch with Sony Ericsson and they told me that it was built into the phone and wouldn't ever be fixed.

what?!

How stupid is that? I reckon I must have got a reply from an idiot cause she claimed those things couldn't be fixed.

Anyone else got any info on this situation?

These messages have high priority, thats the idea with class 0 messages, so they are really supposed to get your attention :-o

Yes but most of the time they contain pointless info like balances and service info. That's why Nokia used the discreet tone because they knew what people wanted!

That is actually my biggest complaint against ericsson, there seem to be things in the software which I cant believe ever got to beta testing! Take the stupid amount of steps needed to send an sms to a contact in your phone book as an example. Why have enter a manual number first before choose a number from the phone book???? Stupid!

ok this is strange but hear me out

ok you need a 7110 put your sim in it and delete the numbers on the sim that came preinstalled on the payg sim

it may work with other phones but somehow it stopped the credit display coming up on my phone

once its been put back in t68i it shouldnt happen anymore

its worth a try

So has this worked for anyone else? & Does anyone know of any other phones that can be used to delete the numbers? (I know that Sony Z5 and Alcatel 511 are no use!)

Cheers

I never managed to get this to work.

I have learned to put up with it now but I still hate the stupidness of it.

I've got them off the display using my t68, but that's only erasing them from the phone as it copys all your numbers off the sim when you first use the phone... So you can't delete numbers from the sim using the t68. I've got a Sony z5 and an alcatel 511 as well, but they won't let me delete the preinstalled numbers - I just get an error message if I try... Did you manage to try the nokia that he suggested?

I'll let you know if I have any luck... Don't know where I'm going to find a 7110 though! My brother's got a 6110 so maybe that'll work...
