Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the W800 just the K750 with a 512mb Duo card and better headphones?

The W800.... also has flight mode so you can use the phone like an mp3 player without the facility of a mobile... thus battery lasts longer...

but this is just repeating the many threads we've had before comparing the two models so rather than repeating all that yet again lets leave this discussion to whether the K750 can be flashed with W800 firmware please

I suspect the answer would be yes, eventually, and perhaps we'll need gbrooks3 to answer this?

it shud be possible.... coz K and W only software differences.. however maybe K maybe takes better quality pictures than W as W is aimed as an MP3 phone.. where K is more for the 2MP. Somthing like S700 and V/Z800.. both are 1.3MP but S700 is better in picture quality...

Doing so is asking for trouble IMHO.

You certainly couldn't do it via the online update.

I think I remember gbrooks3 talking to me about this. I was asking him about getting a D750i and unbranding it, and he said that SE are changing the firmware thingys on all the new phones.

I don't think it will be possible, correct me if I am wrong I may have misread what he put it's something about the software... getting the firmware or something.

Ask him, but don't get your hopes up! [addsig]

Surely if you could it would make SE producing the W800 completely pointless. Also i would think that the flight mode is a hardware thing.

If i were possible why wouldn't SE produce a K850i or something like that. Just charge more for it as it included a larger mem card.

firmware thingys eh?

yeah but as I recall they also enhanced the firmware security when the later T610 firmware versions came out but people found a way around that.

give them time on EMMA III and I'd be surprised if someone doesn't figure something

I'm definitly know very little when it comes to firmware but I do know that there are people up to the challenge, but this is all, of course, speculation so time will tell

Wup, look what I found!

http://ma3.extranet.sonyericsson.com/ma3/

As you rightly say, it's EMMA and i'm sure they will conjure up something.

And masseur, don't make fun of me

I swear it, he told me something but i can't remember, but look, EMMA is back with a vengeance but there's already stuff up there! [addsig]

Better firmware! And the W800i may be more suited for a music listener. [addsig]

How? If you want to listen to music in a hospital or on a plane, how is that annoying... [addsig]
