Bad experience w/ staff of villman-sm north edsa sold us a used Treo 650 (PH) |

My dad and I went there May 31, 2005 around 7 pm, since it's the last day of the Free Bluetooth Headset we were in a hurry to get one. The staff of Villman gave us the one on the display, the original seal was already broken and replaced with a scotch tape. I asked if they have stocks pa that has the original seal intact, they said it's the last one. I asked if it's a brand new unit, they said yes. We opened the box and check the unit and it looks brand new, plastic screen still intact. We asked if we can test the unit, the guy who handles their technical said the battery has no charge. We decided to get the unit since we're buying naman from a reputable store and it was getting late. They guaranteed us a 1-month outright replacement warranty (aside from the 1-year warranty) from their store if found defective.
We went home and my dad was so excited to try out the Treo, he inserted the simcard and charged the unit, to his surprise the unit already has Zlauncher and Medical apps installed, names were in the contacts, I checked the date of the last hotsync and guess what... March 10, 2005 around 5 a.m. The bluetooth name of the device was "Roy".
I know that we should test the unit before buying but Villman's staff guaranteed us that it's a BRAND NEW unit.
I went back the following day to return the unit and showed them why, they confimed that the unit was used (I wonder why they didn't look surprised, hmm..) they started looking for a replacement with their other stores but told me that their other units are also opened box so I insisted in getting a sealed one. They said they can get one the following day from the supplier and I said yes. I asked if my dad can get the replacement at their Makati branches and the lady said the unit will be delivered at their branch (looks to me that they want to contain the incident within their branch). The branch manager was there but didn't bother to talk to me or apologize about what happened, no one did said sorry.
I reported the matter to their main office and the guy I talked to apologized and said they will conduct an investigation (buti pa sya).
My dad got his unit yesterday and everything was ok after testing. After getting his unit he was somehow waiting for an apology, none was given, tsk... tsk... very poor business ethics. So my dad gave them a good sermon... still no apology.
I decided to post this to give warning and caution when buying stuff.

I feel for you bro. I just hate sales people who lie just to get a sale. Akala ko sa GH lang maraming sinungaling.

Thanks for the well-written warning! I'll remember that name - Villainman at North EDSA.
@steele - Bro there's a good honest cp store at GH named Jeremiah 33:3 (or is it 3:33.... dang my bible knowledge is rusty. Backslider talaga ako!) Trying to live up to their business name I guess. They always have 2 outlets -- one permanent (in the Sun Cellular store side) and another w/c is movable, dun sa tiangge. Good prices too, and they have the orig. SE accessories. Dun ko nabili DSS-20 ko. |

You can always be a prodigal son bro I'm sure there are good honest sellers there. Especially the one you just mentioned. When you carry that kind of name, you better live it up. Just sad to think that even reputable store in the mall are being corrupted by erring employees.

i had this kind of problem but in HK!!! i bought a display zire 72! not knowing that it was a display and test unit i bought it... after a few hours, i noticed A FEW scratches on the power button... i hate scratches... so i returned the unit... guess what happened! no questions asked! outright replacement! iba talaga ang mga bisnes dito sa pilipinas! hehehhe! |
