How do you set the volume of the SMS sound?
Is it inextricably linked to that of the ringtone volume?

yes, as higher u set ring volume, as louder will be sms alert aswell.

Thanks. So if I want a loud SMS alert, but a quieter ring tone, then I'm stuck right?

Not really, it would just require a bit of work. Take your ringtone MP3 and, using something like Audacity, lower the gain on it. Even with your phone volume on full, it would still be low but the SMS alert would be normal. |

its easier to set increasing ring on, then the sms alert will be the same level as the ringtone was set
