As marran says, find out your PUK code, then simply enter your PIN wrong 3 times so the phone requests the PUK code. Then you can enter a new PIN.

i've entered the pin wrong about 100 times and i don't get a puk request screen...
if i swap the sim to my old t610 it then works ok ...
so its phone related ..
I bought the s700i unbranded new from a reseller, where as the t610 is from orange (so has the orange crap all over it)..
i'm on orange..

Perhaps the SIM is faulty. Could you get a replacement from your operator? That could be the simplest solution.

cheers sebby - looks like i'll have to give orange a call tomorrow and see how it goes..
P.S. the orange website is crap .. its crashed out on me more than twice now - even their feedback form is broken and returns an error

sure, if you can be sure that the tool you use CAN reset the phone lock code. Cable+credit about the same price, maybe even less.
Isn't the default lock code 4 zeros or something? It should be in the manual.
