Problems transferring MP3 from PC to s700i with DCU-11 |
Pikachu Joined: May 26, 2005 Posts: 7 PM |
Another newbie asking for help.
Mp3 to cellular via DCU-11 (USB cable).
The PC suite CD for s700i forces all my MP3 files (in PC) to *.wav during transfer. This is awkward since *.wav cuts off at 16Khz. Bluetooth and infrared works great.Am I doing something wrong? I got no manuals with the DCU-11.
Firmware is R30004.

Hehe... How stupid of me! Now that I got the time to get familiar with the software itīs just Click and drag or copy/paste. Thought Iīd need some fancy programs to do it but itīs just back to the basics. |

Practice maketh a man perfect.
Instead of the cable n stuff, get a BT donggle for your comp.
A) I think its simpler using file transfer interface on BT B) SE has taken the step to changing the interface on few models, making old accessories redundant.
That, and is purely my opinion, should be cost effective & mostly fulfil requirements.
Can you imagine, I have kept all my charges, handsfree since my Ericsson T-10 days.
vintage on verge of extinction !

Better yet. Get a MS reader.
Way faster to transfer files.

Thanx for you guys! The speed is not the issue īcos I have to cut my mp3īs shorter (due to the low amount of the memory stick capability [128Mb]) Is there really no bigger memory sticks available to s700i? |

Unfortunately, NO ! As MS Pro Duo has not got it for s700i. As for editing my mp3's, by the, Creative Labs WaveEditor and Cdex usage- I have had many an eye :eye: ogle at me as I get incoming calls |

Speaking about memory space taken up by mp3, you might want to convert them to ogg format and then transfer..they take up less space with no noticeable loss in quality...
Powermp3 or unreal player can handle both formats

Hi Pikachu,
Just out of interest - how long does it take to transfer your files to you memory stick using the DCU-11? I suspect rigor mortis would set in quicker. I tried this cable, which works in "serial" mode with my brothers S700i, and it was simply unworkable.
If, and big IF, it's taking forever, you might be better off purchasing a card reader such as Freecom Mini Card Reader or Sandisks 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter. You'd get proper USB2 or Ethernet transfer speed (a couple of seconds) when transfering files. Use MP3 at 192 Bits/S and you don't have to worry about sampling rates or any such like. You'd get 10-12 songs on each 128mb card.
Just a thought.
best regards,

Alas! Then i just have to get along with this memory.
Mrao got in interesting hint. How much smaller .ogg is compared to .mp3 with the same song?
And for RichyH: the transfer rate is approx. 1,25 Mb/min. (Wich IS slow, now coming to thinking of it. Iīv allways been doing something else during the transfer and "how the time flyes, when youre having fun"). And yes! I use no less than 192kbps samples.

Errr ahem. You tght I wouldn't try dat already?Dint work on my S7 nor frnds S7 (UNsupported). Those not in the know. Vorbis is a non patent (unlike ASF) format. Can preserve same quality as an MP3 but at lesser filesize. As usual, I had used Cdex as the GUI & an Ogg audio codec(not sure which) & BladeEnc is a breeze to encode wav-to-mp3

Ahh! Jus checked. The Ogg Vorbis codec. Tis based on Xiphophorus. 'twas I think frm www.freecodecs.net. Basically the "acm" & an "inf" are imp. 'install' the INF is enuf. Could be.. 20%< mp3. But till S7 doesn't support it ...
even the memory! Cant everytime expect to transfer from 'phone' to Ext in case of orig files. (I keep modify.ing, add.ing frames etc to the HotDog vid & chking it back onscreen). So if I want to use up Int Mem directly, using Card Reader is a burden.. BT is simple for me !
