Sony Ericsson Charger |

I received a Sony Ericsson branded charger made by ASTEC/AZTEC (cant remember how its spelt) with my S700i.
When i plugged it in and switched on the mains, the charger BLEW UP and my phone just died.... I calld up SE and they said send in the charger an phone and we'll check it out..... 3 weeks later i receive the phone back with another charger (not my blown up one), and a letter saying we cant repair your phone because the charger you used was unofficial... HOW??? It came with my phone, the phone was brand new and had the SE security seal on it which was untouched!!!!
So a warning to you guess out there... if you have a SONY ERICSSON BRANDED charger made by ASTEC/AZTEC (cant remember how its spelt) i recommend you call up SE and ask them to check the charger... or if it does blow and its is unofficial you will be stuck with a phone that doesnt work any more and that cant be repaired!
If anyone else has had similar problem(s) post here and may be if there are enough of us... we can do something about this!

Your charger blew up??? As in Boom!? Heard of exploding cell phones before, but an exploding charger is weird.

I hope that they've not included a fake SE charger with the package. I've heard a story similar to this when someone bought a cheap car charger, when used, the car was set on fire.

Well who knows.... but by the looks of it... either SE included a fake charger... or the engineer who looked at the charger doesnt know what he is talking about and made a mistake and the charger is official but just dodgy..... |

Ye... i think aztec chargers have been included with the following: P800, P900, S700i and K700i, i think then they have stopped and now mainly use Salcomp. |

I have several Aztec chargers, for older phones like T2xx/3xx
The poster didn't say which country and store the phone was bought from.
In Asia, phones bought from places other than unauthorized dealers have fake batteries and various other naughty stuff. Stickers are like 10 cents a dozen.
One more thing, if they replaced the charger, that means they admitted that the blown-up charger WAS indeed original. That's your argument right there.

About 6 months ago there was a product recall on the se chargers supplied with new phones. Notification of this was on the front page of the se website. I remember that a few had exploded in use due to a pressure build up! Bad luck with your phone, and keep pushing for replacement! |

ESTOR - The phone came as an insurance replacement as my P900 got nicked, i am from the UK so the phone and charger are from theU... yes that was my arguement 2 them (replacing the charger with a new one... they js came out with the expected B*llsh*t).
ijefferies.... yes i am pushing for a replacement... should have some news by the end of this week, rgding the charger recall... they recalled chargers made by DELTA... mine was ASTEC.

This just gets better!!! Ive just spoken to Sony Ericsson.... they said... the repair centre has my blown up charger (i asked SE to send it back to me so i can show them it has the SE logo etc on the charger), so they said ask the repair centre to send you the charger... i call them up and they tell me SE askd them 2 send it 2 sweden! so i call SE up again... and they insist they did not request them 2 send it 2 sweden and i should call the repair centre again... which i do and tell them wot SE told me.... and guess what... they say they were told by SE 2 send it 2 sweden... so i call SE up and use some strong words and finally they admit 2 getting it sent to sweden... and will arrange for it 2 be sent back to me.... now i gota wait n see if i get the one i sent to them... or another one!!! |
