Today Telenor Mobile (Norway) announced that they on December 1st will open it's third generation network. Watching movies on the phone will soon be a reality.

Now we just have to wait for the devices.

Very unlikely you will be watching movies I think. I don't think

a) it'll work out technically for the average user

b) people will want to do that.

I think this movie watching is like the paperless office promise that computer manufacturers gave us - just talk.

Yeah, right, that's what they said about the internet; it's too complicated, people won't be using it.... Look what happened;-)

When did anyone say that about the internet? I've been using it since 1992 and I've never heard anything like that.

I don't see people watching dvds on their laptops on the train home from work, I'm talking about a commute of more than 1hr and the train is full of software engineers. Believe me it wont happen. You don't see people using those tiny handheld tv sets do you? Believe, handheld video will not be big.

I agree

I predict sending postcards will be a new killer app. People going on holiday and sending pictures to their friends will be the next biggie. Also expect your drunken friends to send you pictures of themselves completely wasted in the pub just when you've fallen asleep.
