Anyone any idea if the standby lockups are specific to the voda firmware? I'm getting them, and a friend with an unbranded is fine

| Sony Ericsson K750I
A fault has been identified on the Sony Ericsson K750I that manifests itself in the form of a freezing screen.
The fault is not apparent in all K750I handsets, only in some.
A fix is being worked on by Sony Ericsson and new stock will be available for testing later this week.
If the new stock tests OK we expect the delivery of the new stock be be week commencing 20/06/05.
Where customers are experiencing this problem, removing the battery and replacing it may correct the problem.
However customers that require a replacement should be advised that replacement stock will not be available until week commencing 20/06/05 therefore they can either hold onto their K750I until then or be offered an alternative/refund.

Interesting. That suggests a hardware problem.

It can also suggest that those handsets has the new firmware already installed...
...as was the case with some K700...

There is only one non-customised firmware that has been released so far for the K750 (R1A044), so it is unlikely that the phones causing trouble are any different from a software perspective.
Having said that, some 'hardware' problems can still be fixable through a firmware update, e.g. if a hardware component was slightly out of spec on some phones the firmware could be modified to compensate. Likewise if the firmware has become corrupt - or even corrupted itself - a firmware update could fix this.
I assume people who are having regular problems have tried a master reset? |

So it would definitely appear that a new version is imminent, which is good. I can't say I've experienced any real problems with my handset so far, though.

I have a voda branded phone. It doesn't suffer from lock ups (so far any way!)
It's software version is R 1C004.
Hope this helps!
By the way, do people think that he earpiece and speaker volumes is liekly to be addressed via firmware upgrade, or is it just a design flaw? |

I would have hoped it would be released earlier, but nevermind. I'm away to Spain on Saturday for a good few weeks, and won't have access to the net to update, so will just have to stick it out with the buggy firmware till then.. |

I've just spoken to HAYS (the main repair place in UK) and they've got the new K750 firmware and have updated 3 units so far. He acknowledged that he has been told that most units will require the upgrade but couldn't confirm what the new firmware version is as he didn't have that info on the jobs that have already been done. He was also aware that its not on the online update yet but will be soon.
so thats a little more confirmation of this
