Useless upper right box while using T9 ? |

I've looked for it in the manual, vainly.
I'm speaking of the upper box shows WHEN you're writing an SMS in T9 mode. It generally shows two numbers:
e.g. 1/7, 1/10, 1/3, etc.
AFAIK it could be how many words the T9 dictionary actually knows in regard of the word you're writing.
But: how *the hell* can it be useful ?? :-\
I can't stand I've lost the "chars to end" (while leaving my old Nokia) for that sort of useless function!
Any thoughts?

I know. It shows how many word options you have to choose from. Don't know how to take advantage of it though, never really tried. |

if you type a word with t9 and it is not the word you are looking for and it says 1/3 you can scroll through 3 alternatives, on my phone it is pressing up and down the 5d nav button.
Everything was ugly, but your beautiful face. |

Yes we know that but why does it need to tell us how many alternatives there are?

I guess not... once you scroll through all the alternatives you get the first word again.

K700i still shows the no. of characters remaining, but only when there are 20 or less spaces left in each sms. |

Damn! I've never realized such a "chars remaining counter"!
The problem is that its box appears just *under* the totally useless "1/x dictionary" box! Therefore it's impossibile to see how many chars are left unless I stop a while until the upper box finally disappears..
What a pity...!
Despite that, I'm happy to know that some sort of chars alert is still present, yet "hidden" most of the time!
Thanks!
