Debranding via SEUS |

Hi!
Has anyone experience in debranding phones via the original update service? I have read about this in a newsgroup and tryed it by myself with my P900 and it worked!
Now i tried with a K700i and it didn't work.
The tacics is to provide a different CDA Number (from a unbranded phone) to the SEUS Server to get the new unbranded firmware.
As i wrote abobe it's truly working with P900s and P910s but i didn't get it to work with a K700i.
I read on an other Topic here, that for K700 updating the server isn't looking at the CDA but in the IMEI! Is this confimed by now?
Maybe this is the problem why it works on P Series an not on others!
Any ideas?

I have never heard anyone debranding a K700 via the SEUS. The phone will check for a branded phone and deploy the relevant firmware. |

@ ~DC:UK~
This is true, but it checks using the CDA.
@ bojo
The IMEI is used to see whether the phone is allowed to use the service, but I believe the CDA is still used to select the correct firmware. Did you change the CDA of your K700i? If so, what to?

@~DC:UK~: Then i am wondering why it works with the P Series.
@Sebby: I did't change it on the phone! I hava a modified .dll that should fool the SEUS the unbranded CDA. I tryed with CDA 102286/17.
(I need a unbranded German Version)
You might be right with the IMEI. I tried with two different phones with two different brandings from 2 Providers.
The one did update, but the new branded firmware.
The other gave me an error "not allowed to update" or something like this.
The problem might be on the .dll file but i am wondering why it works with P900. I didn't change anything after sucessful unbranding the P900 except of the CDA.
Thanks a lot!

Have you got a link to this site that tells you how to modify the DLL?

The P9xx SEUS is far more reliable than the K700/S700 version. It makes me think it uses a different way of deploying the firmware as I have used the update service 5 times since it was made for the K700/S700 and three times it has corrupted the firmware.
In short, they most probably are different in how they perform the flash. I would not trust the update service to do a successful debrand even if you got the right CDA for it. |

I updated the K700i yesterday a few times and had no troubles!
The only thing strange to me was, that the program didn't recognise that the actual firmware is already installed! I thought that the update program would say at the secound attempt, that the firmware is up to date, but it didn't! He flashed it again with the same firmware i've loaded before! Istn't that a bit strange??
Another thing i recognized was that the update programm downloaded 2 files in the software directory, one is bout 8mb big and the secound is abot 1.5mb big and has tmobile in it's filename.
Could the big file be the original software and the small one (with tmobile) the "patch" for the branding?
And if this is true what is happening when i delete this tmobile file before flashing??

The small file will no doubt be a signed file archive. Used in combination with main firmware it will update the firmware on the phone without erasing the whole file system.
Because the platform sends bogus messages while charging, that is why!!!..But why this change of heart?..We sense a charger connected, oops, we will not shut down after all!!!..*********************** UI BASIC, HOLD YOUR HORSES

Do u guys think this will work for a V800>Z800 conversion?
I have a CID36 V800, and at the moment there is no way to flash the phone with Z800 firmware. I wonder if SEUS has Z800 firmware yet?

I am pretty sure you will not unbrand with SEUS, SEUS is upgrade only, not a full system rewrite. But with some operators who use main firmware as the branding medium it may work. Modifying the dll will not suffice anymore, IMHO
