Change the gprs setting of connection mode from WAP to HTTP. Now browsing will be slower but you'll be able to download files of unlimited size. Just wait a few minutes after clicking the download link.

Mohan Bond: You with an Indian Operator ? (Mods have modified Post Uno, so I may be asking for something you already told. Please Bear).
Mostly Orange here does have restrictions. But, frankly am yet to pin it for sure- whether SE issue or Ops !
Must be answered somewhere here on Esato ( a thread distantly similar to this Ques. by Manish was frozen almost immediately. Hence am "assuming" )
I dare say, try the html / wap tweak as suggested. May just work.
Incidently, I have the same 'issue'.

@mohan....what kind of gprs connection do you have...if its wap only, amd im guessing thats what you have, it almost surely poses problems in downloading larger files.....on the other hand a full web gprs connection ( im using one right now from Airtel) gives rise to no issues whatsoever while downloading stuff directly onto the phone....

wheni had my k700i i couldn't download more than 550 using my hutch 99 gprs and even from my airtel mobile office connection- i thought they were restrictions but when i bought a nokia using the same connections i con download really large files so i think its either your provider or the phone

Looks like a Operator issue for sure.
Changin Wap to HTTP doesn't help.
