It was, is and will be one the best toys i have. Dad gave it to me...
Ok stopping the blah blah...
This thread is 4 all the k700i lovers. Just post in ur experiences with the k700i.
Mine go like this:
1. The quick share sticker has come out so many times that i'll given up fixing it back again.
2. MP3 via headphones is superb, plus compress mp3's to 64 kbit/sec and get good quality to phone plus stuff in about 2 cd's in the 42 MB
3. Cam is good enough, can't compalin much
4. Battery life is a concern
5. Some scratches on it, some big ones too, but still looks beautiful
6. No major probs with the joystick as yet. Opened the casing once and cleaned it via blowing air, works like a breeze now.
7. The connectors cover at the bottom has lost rigidity, sort of hangs lose
Ok now ur chance
I'll continue later

This deals with the k700i in the pocket rather than the one on the shelves...
I mean to address 2 the daily probs and solutions for a common k700i user

very gd camera I think (especially in certain condition)
battery life isnt that great tbh (lasts me about 2 days on average use, mainly texting, gprs and about hr calling a day)
memory is sufficient (compress songs to 80kbps)
fone is in a bit of a state now (had it 10 months) - not that bad tho scratches and quickshare n online stickers have come off
more sms storage wud b nice
connectors cover is loose and out of shape (doesnt fit tightly anymore)
connectors themselves are becoming unresponsive i think, whilst charging I actually have to sort of hold up the wire a bit for it to charge properly

well having used the k7 for 5 months now
camera is very good when there is sunshine and in the dark...well let's be honest - it sucks
memory is ok mp3's at 40k (well don't be shocked i'm satisfied with it)
it's cool to have radio
battery - 2 days
i love the look of my k7...think it's very cool but my joystick sometimes pisses me off
having dropped it soem times but it still works just fine
sometimes i think "I should've bought 6230 or 6600" but then i look at it and... what can i say - great fone! |

Had mine since christmas and it works fine except for the joystick. It doesn't respond well when pressed down. Any advice on how to fix this? Or should I take it to a service centre?

To fix the joystick problem remove the casing and blow air into the joystick housing, blowing via mouth works, or you could use the vacum cleaner.
I've dropped my phone twice, works fine.

Anyone ever got any problem with the circuit part of the phone,(under normal working conditions)? I mean the one for which u'd to take it to the service centre. Till now all my probs have been fixed by a hard reset.
I've done the reset twice
The 1st time it was some prob with the FAT, memory suddenly seemed to have vanished!
2nd time, odd problem, everytime i put on the phone, the new sms alert tone would ring and the new sms alert icon would appear for about 2 secs and then disappear...

Never had major problems, though my joystick has been replaced.
After almost 9 months:
- call quality is super
- reception is super
- mp3 ringing is super
- screen still is a delight
- battery is ok
- camera is ok if you consider it a toy
- general look & design still attractive
- loosening quickshare sticker is a disgrace on a (at the time) €400 product, shame on you SE, you should replace it for free
- functionality is very good, everyday use is really practical, though some people have problems with the sensitive joystick (pressing instead of scrolling, especially 'down')
- very useful pim: agenda very good, syncronising with outlook is s'thing most people are surprised about ("you do that with your phone?? but is is just a phone??")
- some minor problems have to do with the pc-software SE delivers: syncronising sometimes unpredictable, especially notes and tasks; file manager demands al lot of computer power; on slower computers (like my Duron 950Mhz) performing other tasks will disturb the download of pictures;
- phone is really a bluetooth-device, a lot of its potential is unleashed only with BT;
- a lot of quality games available - but joystick...
- size is fine but a bit too thick
- materials are very pleasing to the touch, especially alu back and buttons
- keypad a bit noisy
In general I'm still very satisfied with the phone. I now have a seperate 20gb mp3-player and this reduces the need for more memory on the phone to zero and leaves the 40+mb free for pictures and games and applications which is great
That the k750 has all of this in a bit smaller body and a better camera and improved software is frustrating, especially because the price is about the same or even lower, but that is how it goes in this market.
I think I'll keep using this remarkable phone for a long time to come. Do not feel the need for a new one and would still advise to buy it given the current price. |

Had mine for a year now... not a single problem since I upgraded the firmware for the first time and got a few days extra battery performance...
Now using R2AT003 firmware from davinci with my own SMS tones, no shutter sound and no-noise nightshots...
I love it !

@firefreak, could you give a sort of a small tutorial about how to update the firmware? I mean the hardware and the software needed and which service should i use.
You say the da-vinci firmware removes noise in cam, sounds attractive, do is it equally reliable to the SE update?
Also what the charges to get the firmware updated "out of the warranty period"?
