Hi guys/gals

i am very keen on getting a k750 when it comes out but wanted to get an idea about some of the things that the phone may lack, big or small. Basically im looking for some things that the k750 lacks compared to other phones around. i have read many great things about the phone but people rarely talk about bad things. i know edge is one example, but i wouldnt really need that anyway. more so im looking for little things that the phone may not have, eg: no reoccuring date, small sms storage etc.. anything that the phone doesnt have that might have been expected, or something that might have been useful if it was in.

i dont know to much about the phones that are around these days so something like this would help me heaps

cheers

One thing about limitation:
SMS storage on the phone only 100 items...

This one I really wanna know: message alert, is it customizable or not (generally non smartphone SE has no customizable message alert...)

message alert IS customizable, AFAIK

one disadv i feel is that, along with such a good camera, it shud have had a flash instead of a photo light. but there is an attachable flash, so i guess it aint such a big issue

its a great screen for the size and the features this phone has...

it was sony ericsson that first started making phones with big screens (in comparison to same sized phones from its rivals!!!)

T68i was probably the first.
but T610 was probably the most obvious !!! for its size , the screen was very big !!!
unlike nokia phones at the time that had very small screens !!
and most of them still have, the 3230 may have a big screen but its quite large and bulky in size !!!

so i wouldnt be complaining so much about the screen !!!

what i want to be improved is the operating system.
i want More multitasking !!! even though nokias Series 60 is way too complicated and in order to find a simple thing u might have to look for ages, because its such a mess, but it also has some cool features, that SE doesnt have (apart from P8-900 with their symbian os !!)

Here are some questions i would like to ask, sorry if its been covered all ready, im trying to read as much as i can on these boards but theres just so much to read!

1. I understand that you can set a photo for a phone number, when they call will it be full screen or just small?

2. What things can you multitask with this phone?

3. Can you set a re-occuring date? (eg: birthday)

4. Can you set a specific ringtone for everyone in your phonebook or do you have to create groups and assign tones to those groups?

5. Can you make shortcuts for features? (like on nokias where left arrow is sms, right arrow is calender, down contacts, up camera)

6. When typing an sms can you insert a phone number out of your address book?

7. Also, ive only ever had 2 mobile phones (nokia 3310 & 7250) both poor phones, what are the main differences between nokias and se's menus and things in general?

thanks

@lukepingi
These are my answers based on my expereinces with K700i:
1. Dunno yet (my K700i doesn't support full screen size of this)
2. AFAIK, in my K700i multitask can be performed for media player (in minimize mode) with all other phone features)
3. Dunno yet
4. Absolutely. You can assign a specific ringtone for each of your contact as well as a specific picture.
5. Yes, there are 4 customizable shortcuts (joystick up, down, left and right).
6. No, unfortunately...
7. It is probably a subjective answer: IMHO, in general, SE phones are better than Nokia in design, connectivity, screen, but yes it should be admitted that SE lack in operating system except for P-series.

the cons?
-The K750 could very easily get 1cm more as screen width,I am not asking for a p9** screen but just get a screen between k700 and s700.
-No symbian while most nokias have it.
-A real 256k color tft and not a k700 one with a software that will simulate 256k.
Whoever I will not fall into the dark side of the phones and buy a crapy plastic nokia

ya i like this feature to be in this phone:

1)the recurrent reminders
2)inserting numbers from your phonebook while writing sms
3)easier looking for contacts by typing extra letters instead of
scrolling to much
4)accessing the SIM same way as the phonebook

thats all for now

Radio as Alarm Clock
"You can use the radio as your alarm signal:
Scroll to Organizer > Alarms > Alarm signal
Note: Ensure that you have your portable handsfree attached."

@luke,wih k700i,if u want to send the phone no: of one of ur contacts to a friend via sms,all u need to do is go to the phonebook and get the contacts name(whose no: u want to send)...press more and u will get an option which says that u can send this contact's details as sms...choose it.then it will ask for the no:to which this contact details r to be smsed...ur friend will recieve an sms asking him whether he wants to add the contact to his phonebook.so this is more simple than blokia fones!!!

another question bout k750i and w800i....read in mobilereview that u can assign 3 sounds for the camera but u cant mute the sound(is it true??...if our fone is in silent mode, will the camera sound still be produced)??

well for the k700i you cannot mute the camera by just the silent mode. the profile have to be change like for example "meeting profile". it might be the same case as the k750.
