At last i managed it...

Since s700i has one of the best screens in mobile phone world, i assume we have to use it in full potential, which on the other hand, sonyericsson does not seem to be so willing!?

Ok, here are the steps to follow for uploading any sort of jpeg image (maps, schedules, timetables, pics you took with your other digital camera, document page etc.), at the end you can have thumbnails and zoomable pics.

1. Download and install Sony Picture Gear Lite at ftp://ftp.sony.com/ccpg/clie/INST_PGL4600US.EXE

2. Have your jpg file ready. I worked on 1280x960 images, i wonder what will s700i do with bigger sizes. Never tried though.

3. Start Picture Gear Lite, got to the folder where you have your jpeg file or files, point to the file, select File-File Process-Still Custom Conversion.

4. Select Memory Stick (*.jpg) from output format. Make other adjustments like resize or rotate if you like.

5. Press ok and voila, your new file named as DSC000XX.jpg is ready to be transferred. Copy the file to the memory stick with card reader or directly to the phone with bluetooth. Just be careful, some BT drivers resize the pic to 640x480 with regular file transfer, so try OBEX transfer then.

Sony Picture Gear Lite is a software specifically written for sony clie handhelds. It just converts the JFIF Jpegs to DCF Jpegs. Still couldn't understand the difference except for the APP0 section. If anyone knows in detail, can you send me some info, so that we can prepare some small size application instead of Sony PGearLite.

Aside from the maps, timetables etc. you can resize your other digital camera pictures to 320x240 and load hundreds of them to 128mb memstick so that you can carry your favorite pics with you any time.

You can also zoom the maps to 1:1. Maybe we can also open a thread to share and exchange city-metro maps...
