Hi,
Had a read of that article, and noticed a few points... can anyone clarify?
"The MP3 function works in a similar way as a dedicated player; there’s the ability to create and edit playlists to suit your mood, plus there’s a graphic equaliser."
(So what has the W800 got thats different?)
"A dedicated music button on side lets you control the music player and radio, even when you’re operating other functions."
(or are they talking about the W800 here? Does the K750 have this also?)
"You can also use the music player and camera with the phone disabled. This is similar to flight mode, but you can’t actually do anything else, like access the phonebook, without turning the phone on as normal."
(I was under the impression that this was the main advantage to the W800? Does the K750 have this flight mode also?)
If they are talking about the K750 here and it has all these features then I won't have to wait for the W800...
Cheers,
Liam

1. AFAIK its the same media player, except it has Walkman branding
2. Yes, the K750i has a dedicated music button too on the side of the phone, just like the W800i. However, the W800i has a music button on the front of the phone too, whereas on the K750i its called the Activity button.
3. AFAIK the K750i does not have the flight mode option, it would seem that website has got their wires crossed a little.
Basically, the W800i is the same phone as the K750i - the only differences really are the firmware, how the phone looks and marketing.
The K750i uses the usual SE firmware like any other SE phone. The W800i will use SE Walkman firmware, so that it has Walkman icons, the flight(type) mode and Walkman shortcut keys. The W800i will be marketed as a Walkman phone, so it'll need more memory and it'll cost more.
Really, unless you absolutely need the flight mode, theres not much point in buying the W800i unless you prefer how it looks. For the same price of a W800i, you could buy a K750i and maybe a 1GB MSPD - and get the phone a few months early.

there are no difference in output sound, why would there be.
W800 and K750 share the EXACT same hardware, there are no difference except for design, slight difference in firmware and supplied accesories (512mb memory, different headset).

Once these phones have been ouy a few months and new F/Ware becomes available, do you think it will be possible to d/load W800 software to the K750 ? and will this install the in flight mode? |

I don't know y people aren't making a big deal of the existence of an article like this. is it only online or will there be something like it in a sun newspaper? if so, then sony ericsson is getting huge publicity, and this will help it change people's minds that you can't beat nokia. Happy days (so getting both k750i and w800!) |
