I e-mailed SonyEricsson Yesterday asking about new hardware and this is what they replied:

ERE/0104IR/H11772-2(T68)

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Contact Center. R2A is the latest software available for T68m in the market. It is nothing to do with the hardware.

Best regards,
/Hoda

Hello,

Thanks for contacting me back. Do the NEW T68 phones that come with the R2A
software have a new hardware version?

All best wishes.

So what is the latest hardware version?

On the back of my battery, it reads:
BKB 193 150/71 R2A
so I assume i have hardware version R2A.
(Even though I got the phone beginning of January and am running software version R1B)

OK.
I got a reference to both R1A and R1B on the back of the phone.

R1B on the top line, R1A on the third line down.

Which one am I looking for?

Cool!

Cheers for that.
Is this the latest hardware version, or is there a newer model already?

The letter you got back from Sony wasn't very forthcoming about Hardware version numbers.

Hi,

R2A: More colour in the games, Call-list (missed calls e.g.) now have small icons for mobile, home or work, GPRS Stable and fast, improved battery status indicator.
..this is all!!

I have worked at Ericsson before and I know that the fact that they change the software in the phone from R1x to R2x can be enough to also change the revision on the whole phone. So the new phones with revision R2A that has R2A software from the factory don't need to be any diffrent hardware wise then the older R1B phones.

It's usually that as long as the change of the product don't alter the function of the product or is a big appearance chance you only step the product from ex R1B ---> R1C. If the funktion of the product chances they step from ex R2G ---> R3A.
