Hi!

I have som sort of odd problem, I've tried to search on it, but I don't find anything.

I've just had my phone reflashed, on a SE Service center, and I've noticed that my memory has shrunk from 42kb to 41.7 kb. But thats not the real problem. The problem is that I hadtrouble with a message that showed "SIM inactive" when I turned the phone on. I did a master reset and this helped. But I noticed that I had lost 2 kb of memory, so I did a master rest again, this didn't help, so I tired doing some more. And surprisngly, the memory has shrunk by 11kb ?!. Where does the memory go, on vacation?

Does anyone noticed this problem also? And do somone have a solution? I'm going nuts here, losing memory when doing master reset must be the oddest thing I've ever noticed on a cellphone

You must be talking about MB, no KB, and something the memory issues is solve with simple off/on (reset) your phone. [addsig]

Ooops, yes I mean MB. The on/off method doesn't help, Ice cleansed evereything I can think of, the cache, cookies, the list with dialed and missed calles, and the time counters. But nothing help. Can the memory be fragmented in some way, and maybe need a reformat, but I can't find that option in this phone?

Memory went on - VACATION Can this be caused by, say, a - firmware upgrade ? [addsig]

After a full reset, I now have 41765 KB, when I did yesterday, I had 41777, so it has dropped with 12kb since yesterday. And before my fw upgrade I had 42900 Kb in memory I think. Now here's a thought, if I do a master reset, like thousand times, will my memory be gone then?

It is possible the new firmware might have put more predefined items on the phone. Check for pictures and sounds that you didn't have before, sometimes the phone comes with a minimal set and after a reset it puts lots more in.

The new firmware may be a bit larger than the previous firmware you had, that's why after the firmware upgrade you lost some free memory. The initial free memory reports were probably inaccurate or wasn't properly updated yet as the firmware does stuff to your phone in the background. The reading was corrected when you made the master reset. I don't think it will keep losing memory everytime you make a master reset. It will eventually settle at a certain point and with a variation of +/- few kilobytes.

Well, maybe others have a better explanation.
resistance is futile.

The phone had r2aa033, and they upgraded it to r2ae033.
Thre's no new sound or picture on the phone, here's the list with things I have:
Pictures, 11 files, 441 kb
Sound, 5 files, 164 kb
Themes, 2 files, 295 kb
Games, 2 files, 418 kb
Messages, 1 file, 4kb

Everything is on the phone after master reset. And I forgot to mention that the memory has decreased gradually, the first times it was 41777, then it was 41771, then 417770 and then 41669, and so on. Isn't this a little bit strange. It's not a big problem for me, I have memory enpugh, but when I find problems, I want to try to fix them, but with this I'm clueless.
