and they are special because you can have unlimited free txt for life on them if you have the specific smsc number

Right, so what is this SMS Centre Number that allows free unlimited texts - I thought all those free SMS gateways were closed down years ago.
Is there a number, or is this just speculation, and why should the mobile number make any difference?
