The "Play Caller Name" feature on most Ericssons (since at least my R320s) was probably one of the best features on Ericssons that I was not able to live without.

In case you dont understand what I am talking about, the feature checks to see if the person calling you has a "voice dial" entry, and if it does, it plays the voice, before ringing.

It was especially handy on the Handsfree, as it allowed you to be able to tell who was calling without picking up the phone and checking it.

Although the S700i has the feature, in the version I have its usability seems to have diminished.

1) Even with the handsfree connected, the phone will NOT play the voice through the headset, only through its own speaker.

2) Previous models (including the p800), the volume of the voice matched the ringtone level. The s700i plays the voice at FULL VOLUME irregardless of the volume setting.

The first problem is bad, the second is worse.

So picture this, i am sat in the office. The ringtone is set to a discrete beepy ringtone (actually a polyphonic rip of "attraction" from Nokia) and the phone rings, playing the Caller Name in my voice at full volume, before discretely playing the ringtone, by which time all eyes in the office are staring at me (especially if the person calling has an "intresting" voice tag)

Anyone else has this problem, and thought of a solution?

Hey i am pround user of s700i.Set ur phone in silent mode if u want 2 hear the audio in headset and not on the phone speaker.Thats how the phone works. So if u want 2 hear it change ur phone profile 2 silent mode when in headset.

I have to test this out for sure... as i am at work right now.

But that still doesnt solve the SECOND problem, of excessive volume when playing the caller name.

If ur phone is in silent mode it solves everything.Every thing is goin 2 be heared through ur headset.Even if u hav personal ringtone for each and everybody on the contact list. When in silent mode without headset ur phone will simply vibrate. But when an headset is connected ur phone is in normal profile.U change it 2 silent 2 cut the phone speaker.Every audio in ur phone will be given directly 2 the headset. If its a personal ringtone or voicetag ur goin 2 hear it on headset. So there is no chance 4 any else 2 hear it.Try it and let me know.
