hi, i have a sony ericsson k500 mobile phone and a usb infra red device so that i can transfer images and other files from my phone to computer and vice versa. However it is only letting me send things from the computer to the phone and not from the phone to the computer.
The computer obviously realises that there is another infra red device because it says "Another computer is nearby, click here to send files to the k500 series" but when tryin to send a picture from the phone the handset starts to connect and then says "connection failed"

Anyone got any ideas of how i can solve this problem?

Go into Control Panel, then into Wireless Link. Ensure that "Allow others to send files to your computing using infrared communications" is ticked. [addsig]

adjust the properties of the IR through device manager. Things to adjust includes speed, duplex/simplex, SIR/FIR, chipset type, etc.

i went onto device manager and you can't change these settings. i have all the boxes ticked icluding 'allow other infra red users to send files to this computer' but still nothing.

do you think re-installing the software and driver could solve the problem?

Try reinstalling the software, then check in device manager, if your using win xp then xp may have installed its own drivers and you will have to install the drivers that came with the dongle via the update driver tab.
