firmware version r2ae033
i have this very weird problem with my unit....
for example,
i have my friends' name saved in my phonebook. lets say his name is mike, his number is 1234567890.
whenever mike send a sms, his name doesn't appear-only his number!!!!
i'm am quite sure that his number was saved correctly...
i tried saving his number again, after that, his name appears in his sent sms.....after a few hours again, his name disappears again!!!
it's driving me crazy!!!
what should i do? is it really a firmware problem? do you guys experience the same thing?

There was a problem with Caller-ID on my T68i, some numbers would show up, others would display the caller's name in my address book - even if all the numbers were listed in the address book. This was for calls as well as SMS.
It was sometimes fussy about saving the number in '+ country code' format, perferring the local '0 number'. It seems to depend on how many enteries you had in your address book, and also what catagory the number was stored as (Mobile, or Other).
Try creating a NEW entery for your friend and see if that new entry appears instead of your friend's number. Not a fix, but may help understand the problem better.

@ Cophia
we do have the same exact problem! my friends names are indeed saved but when i send sms or call them, their names isn't showing up!
already tried deleting the "+63****" in their number and instead use "0***", but it still didn't work, same issue...
however, i do have, at times 2 to 3 numbers saved in each name, i will try your suggestion! - a brilliant 1!
thank you!

I don't know what causes this but it's quite a common problem for all mobiles and not just Sony Ericsson.
I've had people come to me with LGs, Siemens, Nokia and Sony Ericssons asking me what could be wrong. Sometimes they just remedy themselves. My mate's Siemens did. |

It's very possible that you have the same number listed under two different names. In such a case he phone will not be able to determine which name the number belongs to so it will just display the number instead of the name when you receive an incoming call or msg from that number. Scan through your contact list and see where you made the error. |

If the same number is stored with two names it'll pick the first one..... always
I've had text messages appear with only number... sorted it by storing all my contacts on my sim card, after which. for some reason, text messages from the same contact came in with name and caller ID picture and everything

I've experienced the same problem.
I just added the +39 prefix (as like as my Operator shows the number) and I've been able to force the K700 to recognize my mates...
All numbers had been sync'd with Outlook and BY IrSync, BTW.. |

i think its some sort of conflict between the sim number memory and phone number memory?

Correct. This happens when you have numbers in your SIM and same on your phone. The K700i sometimes refers to the SIM first then the phone. It could be by design but I think it is a bug which has gone unnoticed. |
