Could anybody tell me why there's no SE phone with EDGE support selled in Europe? |

SE is focused on 3g networks!! 3g is future not edge!

the correct model name for Z500 is Z500a and its a model designed for the US market (hence the a)

the cost of supporting edge in SE phones is far greater than the loss from customers that wont get SE phones because of lack of edge.

Actually, i'm a big fan of sonyericsson. Currently using pXXX series and waited an EDGE phone from SE for so....... long time. When P910 launched in the market,i thought it will be the latest model that support EDGE but it isn't. This makes me thinking of changing to other phone model with EDGE function that is very important to me as a heavy mobile internet user. |

thats understandable if you are a heavy internet user, and your country support edge. But most countries in SE's traditional keymarkets in europe are moving towards 3g and dont offer edge networks. For those lack of edge is not an issue.

The Z500i is said to become available although it hasn't been seen so there are doubts!

If se are not going to support edge they are not going to sell much phones in asia ,so i can only hope that they dont go below their 5th place in global market

They haven't sold edge yet and still are 5th, so i don't think they're bothered.

As in my place, Malaysia, Z500 is not in the market. While waiting for 3G to be stable & cheap, it will take 2-3 more years. Yet, if you're used to pXXX series (touch screen phone), you won't like to use others. So, now thinking of buying motorola mpx model. Any other recommendation? |

Even in india it seems Edge will be replaced by 3G soon. And Edge is available in few cities only.
