Belkin Bluetooth Drama - Help |

Hello all. I have the SE P910i and i aslo have the Belkin USB Bluetooh Adapter F8T003(ver.2). It used to work before such that anytime I brought the phone near my laptop it will synchronize and I could transfer files.
I have Win XP SP2 on my laptop and I just re-installed the firmware on the phone and now the bloody thing wont work. I have successfully paired the Laptop to the Phone and I believe, all I had to do was click on the Bluetooth serial port and connect and I could have access to the phone from the laptop. Well it is not happening. everytime I click connect, it either says it connected or the connection was closed by the remote device(meaning the phone) .
When I click on Bluetooth places, I no longer see the phone or am I able to access the files on the phone. I recall doing something to the Serial ports to get it to work before but I dont remember.
I am at my wit's end. Has anyone seen this or have experience with this and how I can fix this issue?
Thanks. |

If you have installed sp2 then it uses its own bt drivers, you need to go into device manager, select bluetooth, high light your bt dongle right click and select properties, then select the driver tab, if it says microsoft then you need to reinstall your bt driver from the disk by using the update driver tab.
Hope this helps.

Del,
I did that. Belkin has a SP2 instructions on their site so I fxed the micrsot issue. They drivers are provided by WIDCOMM.
This is really tiring. Thanks though. Any more suggestions? |

@taipan
Did you install the firmware on your phone yourself by the update service ? if so try doing it again, just a thought.

Thanks. So I did just that. removed all software, both bluetooth and SE. Re-installed the Bluetooth and initiated the pairing from the Laptop.
Funny thing is, it shows 2 Bluetooth Serial ports. Com 37 & Com 38. Shouldn't it just be one? I haven't installed the SE PC Suite yet, but I am just curious b4 I proceed.
Thanks. |

I suggest doing a cold boot after removing all traces of previous installations and before reinstalling.
INTEGRITY
Without it... Everything else is irrelevant. |

Yea I am using Windows so I naturally did a cold boot before installing the Bluetooth stuff.
This is how I am seing the ports. When I go to Bluetooth config I see:
Local Services - com 37.. this is the port used by other devices to access services on the computer.
Client Applications - Com 38.
This is how the computer will access services on other bluetooth devices.
Is this correct so far or they should both use the same port. ?
Interesting huh? |

Hoorah.
Dont ask me how , but now it works. When I installed the SE software, I right clicked on the Phone connection Icon on the taskbar.
It had the SE software connecting to port 500 so I unchecked that and checked the 2 ports, 37 & 38 and voila, I was able to see the phone and do a syncrhronization.
My question now is, I was able to transefer files, namely mp3 files to my phone b4. Now when I go to my computer, I dont see any folders from the phone? DId I overlook something? Thanks guys for all the help.
