hi, i am recently bought a GPRS mobile(nokia 6020) for availing AirTel's "mobile office"......i requested them to activate my "mobile office" . they told they have activated .... i can browse internet on my mobile but when i am trying to use it in PC i am getting a dial up error "Error 692....there might be modem or hardware failure......." something like this.

i also tried in Nokia's(Nokia PC suite 6.5) auto connect option ....but that too also says " ...network.....could not connect to device "....like this kind of error.

but i am browsing my phone in the PC and transfering data, ringtones, messages happily.

Plz tell me what is the problem ? why i am not able to access internet in the PC ?

i tried various way but failed...i see , you have accessed internet in the PC with mobile office .....plz if you know plz tell me.

though the CC told the price is 249 for browsing in the PC .......but still i am been able to acess net in my mobile (nokia 6020 ).

people who are using net in PC with mobile office plz tell me whether they are blocked or not ?

i dont understand that modem "error 692...." ... what could be the problem ?

thank you

Hi sir, using a data cable (DKU-5).

i created a new connection wizard ...then dialed with *99***1# but got this error .

i followed this link

http://www.ppcw.net/?itemid=1369&catid=90

do i need any advanced initiallization string parameter settings in the Advanced tab of the Modem configuaration ?

like

AT+cgdcont=1,IP,YOUR_APN_NAME_HERE,0,0

do i need it at all ? for the time being i have kept it blank .....if i need it what should i put ?

like below ?

AT+cgdcont=1,Proxy_address_set_in_my_mobile,airtelgprs.com,0,0

is it correct for AirTel's mobile office ?

plz let me know....i am very much upset.

N.B : i have another modem (internal 56 kbps ) for BSNL landline phone but i have unchecked it and checked the Nokia 6020 modem.

Shoot! Is your primary data account the mobile office one. Like *99***x# or whatever, where x is the data profile number. It may not be one. Try two or three if you have more than one data account.

*99***x# x varies from 1 To 5 normally. So try that.

The number which i dial is

I too followed the installation instructions exactly, but had Error 692. After extensive web-searching, found the solution. Hope it works for you - it did for me. (But no guarantee!)

http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=78789
Quote:
On trial and errors testing out various config changes I found that the key cause of my XP popping out the Error 692 is when I disabled Modem Compression at any end whether one and not the other or both (meaning the setting at modem properties in the Control Panel and the modem properties in the Dialup networking sections).

The fact is Modem Compression must be enabled on the Control Panel modem properties for the HTC USB modem and the modem properties in the corresponding dialup networking configuration.
