When transfering a mp3 file to my phone thru a data cable, is it normal to take 30 minutes plus to transfer a 3.00 minute track ? |

That would be about right. And that is precisely the reason why most of us here use an MS reader/writer.

if your using SE's file manager, yes it is usual

edit : which phone are we talking about ? i assumed it was a k700 or S700

It doesn't have to be a purely MS reader/writer. You could get one of those 8-in-1 or 12-in-1 memory card reader/writers so you could use it for other formats. Those multiple format readers can take an SD, MMC, CF, SM and of course, our very expensive Memory Stick.
Ask your local computer store. They should have one in stock, but make sure that it can also take an MS PRO.

Wow!!! Thats a looooooooooooooooong time to wait for a single song. Memory card readers or bt dongles are much faster. |

@retro - make sure he correct COM port is selected in K700DateiManager and try connecting again, and yep it's twice and even thrice the speed of the SE File Manager.. should take less than a minute for a 2.50 min song to be uploaded to the phone

I use Float Mobile Agent & transfered Mp3 files to my K700 using a cable, usually takes 25 mins to put about 20 tracks on but i always compress my Mp3's to about 1.5mb, about 1min per 1mb. I tried usin the SE software but it took ages to transfer data.
