Some questions concerning T68m |

Hello,
i just discovered this site and got several questions. Firstly, when i bought T68 it didint have my native language, lithuanian. Few weeks ago i went to theservice center to update software and put lithuanian language in. Now, my current software version is R2D005. As i read here before, my T68m can be upgraded into T68i, and i wonder if it is done or not. When i took my phone with new software i saw sone changes. Mostly, in games. Their names were (For example, klondike is now called Yukon struggle, Arizona is now Arimona and as i enter these games i dont see their logo anymore). Another thing is that two games were taken out (GAME and Tetris) and one was added - it is called Naval Fleet. And those secret games dont work. Tell me please where is the problem, or is it some special version of T68 sofware? And is it T68i already or not? |

As it has been said in the previous answer: Yep, u got the T68i software...
For info, the easiest way to see it:
After the software upgrade,
if you get the SonyEricson logo when you switch on the phone, you have the T68i software.
T68 is the last Ericsson phone
T68i is the first SonyEricsson phone.
Another way to check it:
T68 software doesn't have MMS support
T68i does...

heh, i dont see any logo when i boot my T68. I just see the sunrise, or how to call that video  . Now, about the games: are their names like that in T68i? And does T68i have Naval Fleet instead of Tetris and that Flight simulation game? And what about those screensavers, how should i turn it on? The only screensaver i got (or how to call that) is the clock, that was in the T68. Thanks |

You don't have the T68i Software 
R2D005 is a T68m software version.
If you have the T68i software you would have a MMS option in your Message menu.

Yepp, sorry for my first answer. You have got the latest T68m software. And this version has actually got the T68i games, but there are no other T68i features.

I have a T68m phone. Is it possible to degrade so that I can have the T68 software instead of the T68m software, so that I will Tetris?
If so how and/or where can I do it?
And if you can upgrade from T68m to T68i, how and/or where can I do it?
If there is any phone number or address or anything, it would be very useful.
I live in California, USA with phone service from Cingular Wireless.
Someone please help me. Appreciate it. |

I want TETRIS on my phone.
The T68m has no TETRIS.
The T68 has TETRIS.
So, how do I degrade the software back to T68 from T68m? |

Service points will not be willing to downgrade your phones firmware.

T68 and T68m are still the same phone 
but.... in earlier firmware versions (in R2B013 Tetris was removed) Tetris was included... sure... you can update your phone with an earlier firmware version... just find a servicepoint that has it... which will be very difficult... cause they only have one version for T68m, and that is most likely R2D005 since the versions before R2B contained alot of bugs.

Why did they remove TETRIS? I think its the best game out of all of the other games combined.
Other services like Sprint, Verizon, and Boost have to pay $5/month just to download a game, which includes TETRIS. And their games auto-delete after a month.To get it back, you have to pay $5 again each month.
The T68 had it, but was removed when they upgraded to T68m and T68i. I think that its stupid for Sony to do so. I'd rather have TETRIS than 7 other less fun and cheap games.

Apparently it was some sort of copyright issue... Related to the huge number of units sold, they had to pay some royalty which proved to be very high and therefore took the Tetris game away. I am not sure, if you want to be, just use the "search" function of this forum, you might find the answer.
Anyway, the t68 "m" to "i" upgrade has so many new good features you will soon forget about Tetris. Although I agree with you that they should have left it on the phone. I guess it is just a financial matter.
If you hade the copyrights of a game like Tetris you wouldn't sign a contract with a manufacturer... You'd better create a java version of it and let everyone have it for 5 USD every couple of months... That would make huge money!!! Far more than including it in ONE BRAND...
So that might be the reason... |
