I am creating animated wallpaper with JASC animations shop according to my customers specification. When the wallpapers shall have the same width and height, there is no problem.
But when it is specified that the width and height shall be different, black areas appear. JASC says that this is because the source images have an aspect ratio different from the animation. This is true, because the source images have the same width and height.

But how do I avoid the black areas? I see no function in JASC to remove them. Do I have to rescale the source images so that they have the same aspect ratio as the animation? This would be very time consuming.

I think you do have to re-scale the source images in PSP before you open them in animation shop

If you have psp 8 or higher, you might be able to download a python script (or create your own) to automate the process?

With v3.04 when you create a new animation (File-New) you get a wizard.

Specify the size of the animation on the first pane, the next one lets you select the canvas colour (I assume your's is set to black). On the next pane there is an option "Scale frames to fit". Insert the file names in the next one and click OK.

That should resize everything for you. If you want to paste the frames in one at a time just add one image to the animation, then paste the new frames into it once the wizard has finished.

What is PSP? Do you mean Photo shop? I don't have that program.

thebaron, I already do exactly as you suggested. This is my selection:

--> animation wizard-->
dimension as defined here :101,80
-->choose canvas color: opaque
-->source images with different ratios....where should such images be located:centred in the frame
how should the rest be filled:with the preceding frames content
scale frames to fit choosen.

And I still get black areas.

I only have JASC animation shop, but I will buy the Photo shop later.
But I guess it works the same if I resize the pictures with the paint program that comes along with Windows XP?

Cycovision, you were right. I fixed it with PSP, the paint program in Windows XP wasn't enough. Were can I get that Python script?
