Ok,
I'm new to the whole fancy phone world so please bear with me. I have a K500i and I wish to connect to Hotmail using the built in email client and izymail ($10 a year is fine by me!). Now, I have tried to follow their instructions (which are pretty poor actually) in entering all my settings correctly but the phone times out with "finding server" and then "server not found". I've connected to wap.esato.com to verify my gprs is functional (I get the blue triangle too) . I am with a little known network called meteor here in Ireland. I have contacted izymail tech support but in the mean time (and to be honest I think I've a better chance with the knowledgebase here) I'm trying here. Thanks for reading this far!

How are you telling you email to connect. I know that some GPRS settings wont allow you to thats all.

Im on Orange in the UK and if I connect using the Wap GPRS settings then my phone times out. However if i use the Internet GRPS settings i dont get any problems at all.

Hi Darren,
I'm currently set up to use WAP GPRS. The only alternative listed is WAP GSM? Is there a way to add another data account to the K500i or something? Thanks for your help mate.

there is mate, you should be able to add another setting to your wap. I have a k700i but the k500i should be the same

go to you connectivity, data comm, sata accounts and you should be able to add in there with all you hotmail settings..

Let me know

Hey Darren,
Added another account as per this set of instructions on an Irish forum:

ISP GPRS

Profile Name: Meteor ISP
Connection Type: GPRS
APN: isp.mymeteor.ie
Username: my
Password: isp
IP and DNS are supplied on connection.

Now, when I change the settings in the email client to use this it immediately comes back with "connection failed". Any ideas?

goto sonyericsson.com and then choose either ireland or uk. Go to support and you cn send the internet settings over the air direct from se.
This might work

Hey Darren,
It's not happenin for me tonight I'm afraid. There's no mention of izysoft as an email provider and of course Hotmail is not available so the sony site is a dead end. Are you using hotmail?

im not sorry, i use Oranges own email.

Not sure what else to suggest.

This might sound daft, but has Meteor enablaed you to connect to other companies via gprs?

I know that companies can often green will garden u to there own network?

It's not daft at all mate. i just called them and the bloke said I was enabled for gprs wap, gsm wap but NOT gprs internet. He enabled me just a minute ago and said wait ten minutes and reboot your phone. I've just changed to them from Vodafone, hence the new phone and much confusion. I'll let you know how I get on when I'm at least up and running with the general internet settings!

We're up and running with hotmail! cheers mate. You were spot on about not being able to use wap gprs. Working fine with their ISP settings! Thanks again, much appreciated.
