hullo all ...

new to this forum ...

wondering if anyone in denmark has ever succeeded in retrieving email via gsm (not gprs) and if anyone has got themselves the new r3a022 firmware for t39 and whether it had any improvements ...

and what's the deal about not being able to get free firmware updates from ericsson service points anymore ... is it true?

thanks in advance ...

Davs du,..velkommen til

Better write in english now hehe.

Just got my phone upgraded at an Ericsson service point. Mine is a T-68.
The service points do upgrade your phone.
And its free !

Yep, I got the mail-part working on gsm with the T-39. Had Get2net.dk internet provider.
And it worked quite allright

When talking about email : have a look at http://www.vic.dk
They have complete set-ups (settings) for T-39,..email,wap and so on.

(på VIC's side, se ude til venstre, under terminaler, der står T-39 med)

tak for det ...

however, I'm sure I have the right wap-configuration (which i confirmed by looking at the vic site) ... my problem is the "server not found" error i get when i try to get my email ... and i have tried typing the servers as ip-addresses instead of their names ... maybe the servers just don't support it, i don't know ...

anyway ... i have just one more question ...

do you have to go to the place where you bought your phone to get it updated ... or can you go to any supplier with a service point as long as you bring your receipt?

thanks,

janus.

Janus :

You can go to any service point you like.

The service point where I get my upgrades, isnt the place I bought the phone from.
The upgrade is still free of charge

Janus :

About email :

If you're trying with e.g. Yahoo.dk,..they dont support it.

The yahoo.com adresses are supported (pop3).

I dont know how many of the internet providers in DK, that actually supports this.
With some internet providers you are only allowed to use your "home-number" for dialling (called an A-number). Which means you can't read email from e.g. mobile-phone.

JANUS :

I think we are talking about two different things here :

Reading email using WAP.

Reading email using the EMAIL-function in T-39.
--------------------------------------------

You CAN read your email on Yahoo if you do it over WAP. Just go to the Yahoo wapsite with your phone.
(jeg kan ikke lige huske hvad Yahoo's WAP-adresse er, se den på yahoo.dk)

You CANNOT do it, if you use the email-function on the phone.
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------

WAP:

Yes I use VIC-wapgateway, works very well.

You can go to Sonyericssons site, and the wap configurator,..and ask them to send the settings to you.(wap-settings) These settings are probably already in the phone.

You can do the same thing with TDC/VIC from their website.
(skriv sms til dem, og få tilsendt wap-indstillinger)

Then the wap should work.

------------------------------------------

EMAIL-function in T-39:

Some internet providers dont allow you to read your email from a mobile phone.
Try to phone your internet-provider and ask them.
--------------------------------------------

The email-part in the phone, has nothing to do with the wap-part.

WAP is like the web.
email-part is like outlook.

--------------------------------------------

Your welcome to write me a "private message" in here in danish

see you

Jan
