Hello!

I have just aquired a brand new Ericsson t630. I would very much like to add a Norwegian T9 dictionary to it. Is it possible? How? Do I have to get a "terminator dongle"? In that case, what's my best bet - are there different such dongles?

Another thing: when typing an SMS, I feel that it's just a little bit slow in its responses. I don't know if that might have anything to do with firmware, memory, or something. It'd be nice to have it respond more immediately.

Thanks!

Johannes

Yes you have to get a terminator dongle. There are other alternatives, but they are more expensive.

I believe you can get Norwegian by flashing the EU4 firmware, but someone will confirm this.

Regarding your speed problems, the T610/T630 isn't the fastest phone anyway, but it's probably down to an old firmware. Do you know which version you have at present? [addsig]

Hey.

OK, would I be able to do this particular flashing with any terminator dongle? This one, for instance:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBa[....]386572202&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Will this do?

I have no idea which version my phone is. How could I find out? It's probably old - the software on the CD that came w/ the package seems to be dated 2002.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Johannes

Yes that cable is perfect.

To check the firmware, press:

> * < < * < *

Where "<" and ">" indicate movement of the joystick.

Then go into Service Info, then SW Information.

The firmware version will begin with an R.

Allright.

It says

R6C005 prgCXC12-5780_EU_2_N

R6C005 prgCXC12-5802_TAE_N

and something about LCD and Camera and Customization version...

and ITP version: R3A014 , prgCXC125812_TP

Does this mean that it's old and that it might get better by upgrading?

Ah, no, that's actually very new. There's only one version after that, R7A011, which is not very different at all (if at all). So the speed of the phone is something you'll have to live with. [addsig]

There are about 8 hardware versions of T630. For some of them R7A is the latest firmware, but some hardware versions only can handle R6C as the latest one.

Allright.

Are there any other good reasons for getting a dongle, apart from my being able to add a Norwegian dictionary? And are you sure that I'll be able to add a Norwegian dictionary?

Thanks,

Johannes

With the dongle, you can change the language, which should add different language dictionary in it. You can also remove any customization such as pre-set WAP and data accounts, etc.

But if your phone is under warranty, you can ask the service centre to change the language for you, for free.

I live in Sweden and I can choose to have norweigan language when texting...
You could try this:
(Might not be corrct translated because I use Swedish in the menu and so on...)
1: Turn on the phone
2: Open menu and choose "Settings".
3: Choose "Languages" and then the one that's not "Menu" (Don't know what it's translated to in english...)
There you can 'check the boxes' with the languages you want .

Hope this helped, otherwhise you should just do what they've to you to
