Hello, I will travel to Japan soon for a week or so and need to know what the possibilities are to buy/rent a mobile phone with IrDa function that works in Japan. Does anyone have done this before and know what is best to do? What network or provider is the best? Maybe somebody has got a Japanese phone for sale. Please let me know.

Regards.

fernando, our problem would be subscription. it's not as easy compare to europe asia america where we have pre-paid (pay as you go). i have two colored jap phone, but i decided to use ACeS satellite phone when i go to japan on the 18th.

this is a total opposite of south korea, where my provider has a roaming agreement with KTF. i can use my gsm sim card on their hybrid gsm/cdma phone. furthermore, i was able to get a free KTF phone (www.pc-ephone.com) at the airport when i was there twice this year earlier.

Thanks a lot guys, that is some usefull information. Especially the phone rental site ! Amazing that itīs possible to arrange japanese business cards ! I Wonder what my name would be (look like) in japanese. I think the Satelite phone would be too expensive in use though. I think I will rent a phone. This forum is so helpfull. Way to go Laffen.
