What is socket support? what is a socket connection? why doesnt the t610 have it?

In computing terms, sockets are used to described the part of an operating system that allows programs to access network facilities, such as accessing the various different 'ports' of the internet (www, pop3,smtp etc.). In windows, it's known as the 'winsock API'.

I should imagine that the T610 doesn't support them because it hasn't got a 'true' stand alone operating system like the p-series' UIQ, rather a cut-down dedicated firmware.
