I have an SE k700i and a DSS 25 desktop stand which i use to sync my address book and calender with my (windows) PC. I am switching to an iMac now and would like to know what software/hardware I will need to continue syncing my phone with the corresponding software on my new Mac.. thanks.

its funny, and kinda sad, when people just don't realise the ship is sinking and its time to get off...

But enough about you, lets talk about me...and my question. Any ideas??

@digitigger:

Congrats on your decision to switch... you'll find life much much easier with a Mac!

To sync your K700 with a Mac all you need is a USB bluetooth dongle (or the built-in bluetooth hardware if the Mac you are getting has it.)

That's it. Nothing else required. The software to sync is built-in, the Bluetooth drivers are built-in, everything is built-in...

You might want to read the following posts:

(Bear in mind that some of the info in the first thread is out of date, now that the K700 is officially supported by Apple.)

Any further questions please direct them to the helpful Mac people in the second thread.

Heej thanks for the info. I'm picking up my powerbook this afternoon, and it has bluetooth built-in so that is actually better than using a cable. I cant wait to try it out!!

My only question now is....I have a DSS 25 which i use to sync my k700i with my pc. I'm getting my iMac next monday and I'd like to know if i can use the DSS 25 with that? I know i can sync with bluetooth (I'll try it out this afternoon on the powerbook), but for software upgrades from sony, they say I have to use the DSS 25. It wont work over bluetooth.

Another question, do you think the DSS 25 (which is connected via usb) is faster than bluetooth? I've noticed that bluetooth connections between my k700i and my iPaq are a lot slower than the USB connection between my PC and iPaq.

thanks,
mark
BTW as for switching to Apple, if it's only 25% as good as everyone keeps telling me, I'm going to have a smash-my-old-PC-party outside my house monday afternoon once my iMac has arrived!! hehehe
