Has anyone successfully updated their o2 branded s700i via the SE software updater?
Just wanted to know people's experiences before buying a DSS-25 cradle.
Thanks to anyone who can help! |

last time i tried to do it, it said your network (o2 in my case) does not allow the use of this feature. so i'd save yourself the money |

Thanks for the info.
I'm having serious problems with my s700i and was hoping a firmware upgrade would fix things.
Can anyone shed light on the best way of debranding/upgrading? |

I downloaded the drivers for the DSS-25 synchstation from the SE website and upgraded my S700 to R3K successfully. My phone was from Phones4U in January 05. O2 is my network.
It was totally debranded and increased the video recording length. Altogether it took 15 minutes on a DSL connection. What problems are you having?

Thanks goldenface but is your phone o2 branded?
I think phones from phones4u are unbranded, much like those from the Carphone Warehouse?

The O2 active link disappeared and I think I got back the Play Now Icon. The video recording length increased too. |

I'm having problems with texts coming through repeatedly. Some messages are appearing 5 days after the original came through.
Also, the phone is not recognising the Memory Stick all the time. Removing and reinserting it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
The phone also fails to turn on after shutting down. I have to remove the battery and SIM before the phone will restart.
I'd like the new firmware regardless of these issues, other posts suggest the phone is faster afterwards. And having the keypad unlock when opening the phone would be very, very handy!
Think i'll get a DSS-25 then, they aren't too expensive after all.
Thanks for your posts!

Remember if you got your phone from an o2 store it won't work. trust me on this one, i work for o2. |

I bought my S700 from O2 and haven't had any issues with it other than a single reboot and not being able to use the internet upgrade. I took it to an O2 store and had it upgraded which took about5 days. Didn't notice to much difference when I got it back - but it does get totaly wiped (e.g loose all pics, apps, settings ect) which I don't think happens if you buy software and do it yourself. The most useful change is it automatically unlocks when you open it. |

Hey guys,
Apologies as im sure this has already been posted, but this forum is so active its hard to find a solid answer!
Can i confirm the latest firmware is R3K004?
Iv just flashed using SE Remote Unlocker Ver 12.5 and a T28 Service Cable. Also, I was hoping this would unbrand my S700 and Id then be able to use the online SEUS. But i still get the operator not supported message. Any ideas? do I also need to perform an Unlock on it?
Cheers guys

I seem to have had a different experience. I bought an S700i on contract from O2. Branded only by the O2 link in the menu. I did the update today from R3L to R3M. Only after the update did the phone crash though |
