One of my customers want me to make animated and static color wallpapers. Which is the best software for this?
Is there any online tutorial that can teach me doing wallpapers?

wallpapers for mobilephones?

I use Adobe Photoshop for static (non-animated) and when I animate I use either Macromedia Flash or Jasc Animation Shop

Adobe ImageReady that comes with Photoshop is another good choice for designing and publishing animated GIFs.

yes, and since it has the same ui as Photoshop, it's more easier to learn than other apps.

image editor from SE, just pick your phone and it creates an image of the correct dimensions.

You will need to use an image editor like photoshop to animate or modify the image, but SE Image Editor does a good job with existing graphics that only need resizing.

keep in mind that photoshop can't animate an image. you probably are pointing to image ready.

If u r wanting to do this on pc, u can also use 'ifranview' . This program can resize, change colour, add effects, use translusant background, change the file extension, animate, save each frame, send to emails. It is also useful 4 mp3, wav, mmf etc. And is simple to use!!

With 'ifranview' u can use additional software with it 2.
'morpheus' takes 2 images, and will animate 1 image into another - (morph)
u can use photos with it 2.
. . . And its free!

I began working with Jasc Animations shop, and it was easy to make the animation.

So wallpapers are made of bitmaps? I thought it was gifs. Do I have to do anything more than to make a bitmap-animation with the same colour depth and resolution as the mobile, for it to work?

I wudnt worry 2 much about colour-depth & correct pixel etc.
Its like with any picture, photo, animation, film, video etc that u do yourself... It'l b 'trial & error' .
Try it, if it doesnt look right, alter it, try it again. . !
