I recentley purchased a data cable off eBay which says it supports the k700 series, amongst my model, the k500i. Having seen that the price was fairly good, I decided to bid, and managed to win the auction at a reasonable price. I received the cable today, with drivers (HA!), along with the cable and box by some unknown manufacturer. I managed to install all the Sony Ericsson software with no problem, but installing the cable, that is another matter. I am constantly getting problems with it failing to recognise the cable. It will say new hardware found, and will be unable to find any drivers suitable for it. I've tried pointing to the folder on the disc, I've tried following a guide I found here for modifying a file, that didn't work, I've tried the official drivers, I've tried some unknown drivers, none of them seem to want to work my data cable. It seems that the looks like a big scam from my point of view, but there appears to be some people out there that have actually been able to get this thing to work? Do any of you guys out there own a DCU-11 Data Cable? If so, please can you share with me how you managed to get it working because this has kept me frustrated throughout the entire day and I've even stayed up til 4am trying to figure it out, and I still haven't gained anything. Any help would be much appreciated....

Thanks
Kyle.

Spudsta, i got a dcu-11 usb cable from ebay too and i've made it work somewhat, i have a t226 and i got fma to work with it. I believe u can download the drivers from the sony ericsson support site. But using the software and drivers that came with the cable proved to be difficult for me as well. So far, none of the sony software recognizes my t226 right away and i have no idea why, so if anyone has a solution to this... please post it! As for getting ur drivers to work, fool around and check out that site and pray that the software will actually recognize the phone, i dont know why it doesnt recognize mine.

Well I've tried using drivers from the CD, by editing certain lines, and messing with other settings, but still it won't recognise the drivers. I tried pointing the New Hardware wizard to the folder of the official SE drivers, and it still won't recognise them; I'm guessing that I've been had. I would really like to be able to transfer my photos from my phone to my computer, and from my computer to my phone, and mp3s from my computer to my phone by using either Infrared or Data Cable, not having to upload to webspace, and download via WAP all the time. I just feel that it would of been so much easier, how I was wrong! Now before I try searching eBay, does anyone have any alternative solutions which will meet my needs? If I was to buy an InfraRed dongle from eBay, is it likely to work? Does anyone out there have a K500i with a Data Cable/infrared dongle? If so where did you get them, and how much are they?

Thank god I found this forum!
